Maquettes

I have created these maquettes to represent what i will be creating physically during the timed exam.

I will also hang them from the ceiling to create the word from a certain perspective.

Experimenting with colour filters

For my final piece i want to have clipping mask letters with images of croydon

and to add extra colour to the design i wanted to experiment with colour filters

so i have these images of different colours and an example of the clipping mask.

I like the designs that consist of single colour filters rather than a multiple colour image.

Floating Letter Boxes

These are floating boxes around london that spell out words from different perspectives 

every time you move around the boxes have a chance to say something different

they are very similar to my idea of the having letters reading words related to croydon

every phrase that is used are motivational and quite feel good so i think the purpose of this piece is to make the people of london happier

Personally i like this idea due to the feel good effect of the piece and the indicate design of the blocks themselves.

In Depth Analysis - Bosco Creative Department - Sochi Patchwork Quilt Icons

These are the Icons created for each event in the olympics by the Bosco Creative department

and they way they have been made is by taking the whole design of the patchwork quilt and taking title snippets of the design for each of the different icons. this work of which is inspired by the Designs of Nikolai Belkov 34 years ago in the Moscow olympics.

this is also derived from the original piece created in 1972 for the Munich Olympics by Otl Aicher.

This piece has 2 meanings it shows both the culture of Russia as well as showing what event is being done at the time and with each event having a different colour makes each and every icon look even more unique.

the context of this is to show what event is on and Bosco Creative department has found a way to add the cultures of each region of Russia making this a very diverse piece of art and it also communicates with the audience very well.

Personally i think this design is very interesting and eye-catching because of the colour variants and the clean cut of the clipping mask used to make this design really intrigues me as a digital artist. i think that Bosco did a great job on this piece.

Text design

First of all i created this text piece by writing it out by hand scanning it into illustrator and refining the edges and shape of the wording.

i then added brush strokes of computing primary colours (Red Green Blue) as i prefer green to yellow as yellow seemed a bit to bright.

i then placed the colour behind the text to add a background to the design.

then just out of curiosity i used yellow in to replace green and as i thought it was to bright for the design and didn't fit in well.

i also tried to make the colour part of the text with a clipping mask but i didn't like this idea as much as the first so i continued to experiment further with the first design.

i added extra strokes with a different brush with other colours i only show purple here as it was the best and i still don't think this is fit for printing.

then i discovered something really weird to do out of random experimentation with different brushes i found a leaf brush that put leaves in a random order across the page then i sad that i could add a fraying effect to the quite blocky colours and as i thought they were a little to vibrant i did it quite a lot making the colour about half a visible as it was before.

i then warped the Y of the text just to add a sharpness to the design. i am happy with the way my design turned out as it isn't quite what i expected it to be like at all but i absolutely love the way it looks.

Moodboard

This is an image board of the pictures that i want my final pieces to look like depending on what outcomes i intend to make by the end of the project, i like all of the designs of the tshirts and shorts expect for the don broco x hype variant as i feel it is over coloured and looks a bit too much.
